Now more than ever, Penn State needs leadership. Ben Novak has devoted much of his life to honorably serving our alma mater, and he stands for election to the Board of Trustees not to advance himself or for any personal gain, but to be our voice and our champion in rooting out the systemic failures that have been on painful display since the beginning of the Sandusky scandal. As a Trustee, Ben will dedicate himself to achieving sweeping, meaningful reforms that emphasize transparency and accountability in our quest to restore the Glory of Old State.
This is Ben Novak’s promise to all Penn Staters.
A Return to Shared Governance: As a Trustee, Ben Novak will rely on personal communication, traditional media and the internet to engage students, faculty members and the broader Penn State community in a conversation about meaningful changes that return the principles of shared governance to their rightful place in University life.
Structural Board Reform: As a Trustee, Ben Novak promises to lead the crusade for reforming Penn State’s culture of secrecy, beginning with the many obstacles to the free flow of information contained in the PSU Trustees’ Standing Order IX.
Honoring Joe & Sue Paterno: As a Trustee, Ben Novak will dedicate himself to restoring the honor of our friend Joe Paterno.
A Transparent Trusteeship: As a Trustee, Ben Novak will commit himself to using every means of communication at his disposal, from traditional townhalls to social media, in order to help Penn Staters access and understand the process by which their University is managed.
